Keith James - The Songs of Nick Drake

A number of years have now passed since Singer/Guitarist Keith James paralysed the whole Country with his stunningly beautiful series of concerts entitled The Songs of Nick Drake. At the beginning of the project in 2001 he was the first artist ever to bring this immaculate and intriguingly fragile music to Theatres across the UK in its pure, live concert form. The end result was almost a decade of highly acclaimed tours amounting to over 1000 concerts in venues across the UK, Ireland, Holland, France, Italy and Spain including all of Nicks Schools and Colleges - even Glastonbury Festival.

Keith James - Live Session - BBC Radio Cambridgeshire

A very accomplished sound man with a BBC Maida Vale background, he worked for more than a decade as a record producer (1991 – 2004), working on Albums with many of this Country’s profoundly talented musicians and writers.Keith is fiercely independent and therefore his career has for many years, existed in a parallel universe, almost under wraps, esoteric and secretive. He has enjoyed very little radio exposure, he doesn’t fit easily into any music category, has never signed a recording or publishing deal. Despite this, he has released 13 CD Albums, all self-produced and self-published. The most recent from 2017 is Tenderness Claws which features all settings of poetry to music including work by Jack Kerouac, Pete Brown (1960s British beat poet) William Blake, Allen Ginsberg, Federico Garcia Lorca and some of Keith’s own.

There is a huge amount of insight into the history and the spirit of Cat Stevens; his early pop career, his illness that changed him existentially and spiritually into an incredibly thoughtful and loving singer songwriter; such that his songs are remembered instantly for there uplifting sense of truth, promise and human fragility. Much to talk about the background and embryo of each song..  some of which will be performed as all of us remember..  and some, carefully and intuitively re-voiced - respectfully re-interpreted with rich, balanced guitar arrangements and a more personal vocal approach.

Keith James - A Message from the Gods

A MESSAGE FROM THE GODS. Music set to the wonderful poetry of Maya Angelou, Pablo Neruda, Frida Kahlo, Kahlil Gibran, Kate Tempest, Leonard Cohen, Lorca and W H Auden Released earlier this year, Keith's profound new Album has been met with huge enthusiasm from UK Radio Stations, the music press and followers across the country and will no doubt be considered to be his best yet. It continues to expose his unique skill of setting poetry to music and arriving at a stunningly beautiful result. Each of these poems take on a new life as a song, they resonate deeply and instinctively and show the vital importance of personal connection, both on an intimate and universal level. Caged Bird - Maya Angelou and If you forget me - Pablo Neruda are stand out moments. 'Effortlessly beautiful. The silver streak of Keith James continues. A fine Album indeed' Paul Jackson - FATEA 'This is class material performed in an exemplary fashion. Highly recommended' David Harley - Folking.com 'Fearless' Dai Jeffries - RnR 'An Album for our time' Jane Moss-Luffram - Speakeasy 'Great Job' BBC RADIO WALES Tickets are available on-line from the venue website here below:

A profound and dramatic album of significant modern poetry settings by Maya Angelou, Frida Kahlo, Kahlil Gibran, Kate Tempest, Pablo Neruda, W H Auden, Lorca and Leonard Cohen. This new Album, his 15th record release, will no doubt be considered to be his most profound to date. Here he has chosen what he believes to be some of the most significant, relevant and wonderfully written modern poetry: Maya Angelou, Frida Kahlo, Kahlil Gibran, Kate Tempest, Pablo Neruda, W H Auden, Lorca and Leonard Cohen. The Album is entitled MESSAGE FROM THE GODS and is dedicated to our collective human need to rediscover the pathway of emotional connection, against the current backdrop of leaping advancement in high tech communication; realising that our underwritten wish to be charitable and understanding and our instinctive sense of regard for our own vulnerable fragility is present somewhere within us all. http://www.keith-james.com

Keith James – Message from the Gods

Keith James - The Songs of Nick Drake

Nick Drake is the most revered and loved of all this country's singer/songwriters. He recorded three cherished Albums between 1969 and 1972 but was almost entirely unknown in his day. After his tragic death in 1974, aged only 26, his music almost disappeared into obscurity. Now, thanks to a massive resurgence of interest and a worldwide re-evaluation of his genius, Nick Drake has become a National treasure. An important book, Remembered for a while has been recently released, written by his elder Sister Gabrielle Drake. This volume throws light on almost everything attributed to Nick's brief career as a songwriter and recording artist as well as on many corners of mystery and supposition.

Keith James - The Music of Yusuf - Cat Stevens

There is a huge amount of insight into the history and the spirit of Cat Stevens; his early pop career, his illness that changed him existentially and spiritually into an incredibly thoughtful and loving singer songwriter; such that his songs are remembered instantly for there uplifting sense of truth, promise and human fragility. Much to talk about the background and embryo of each song..  some of which will be performed as all of us remember..  and some, carefully and intuitively re-voiced - respectfully re-interpreted with rich, balanced guitar arrangements and a more personal vocal approach.

 Starts 7.30pm, http://www.keith-james.com

We are delighted to announce ELTEL  will be performing at The Acoustic Couch on Thursday 29th August, the band have been playing gigs in and around London since 2016 when Mark Duffield (Vocals) and Terry Crew (Guitar and Vocals) split from their previous band and began playing commercial songs in a different and obscure way. When they met their percussionist, Robbie Gordon, they began writing original music, which has been pleasing the crowds ever since. Given the success that ELTEL have had in performing their originals, it is important that the feel of their live performances is well captured in the production of their music.
